How many of you have come home from an exhausting day of work or class, popped a game into your PlayStation 2, and sat down on the couch only to see 'Disk Read Error' on your TV? For many, it's an all-too-common occurence. Ars member Rob Nelson has taken the time to write up a illustrated how-to on disassembling your PS2 and making it good as new. You don't need much in the way of tools for this job:

We're only going to need a few tools for this. Grab your PS2, a normal-size phillips and a flathead screwdriver, a small or jeweler's size phillips screwdriver, a can of compressed air, and one each of (if you own any): a DVD, a PSone game, a silver PS2 game, and a blue PS2 game (namely Contra: Shattered Soldier). I've chosen Army of Darkness, Final Fantasy Tactics, GTA: Vice City, and Contra. To my knowledge, there is only a handful of blue games, so if you don't have one there's no need to worry.

I've started a thread for my current project of building a cheat compilation for the Final Fantasy X game. The reason for this is that I wanted to direct discussion into an open place without bogging.
