Issue:

When the Companion CDs shipped with HP iPAQs are run on units running the Vista OS, the units might give the following error message and the CD will fail to auto-run.
'The Getting Started CD requires Windows 2000, Windows XP or a newer operating system to run. Please upgrade your operating system and try again.'

Solution

To resolve this issue, perform the following steps.

Right click on the optical drive containing the companion CD and select Open.
In the window displaying the contents of the CD, double click on the SETUP.EXE file. This will start the installation.

Subsequently, when the Companion CD is inserted, it should auto-run without any issues. This is not an issue with the CD. If the issue persists, contact HP Support.
